Melting

2 04 2010

Finally, spring is peeking around the corner. Winter in Sweden has been long and fierce but now, having pulled my creative side out of hibernation, it’s once again time to dust off the good ol’ Nikon. Hope your spring will be just as formidable as I plan on making mine. I will NOT, however, post any pictures of melting icicles (even though I tecnically could). I may be cliché but I’m not that cliché…  at least I’m trying not to be.

Here’s one with some wheels and old dirty snow in it instead! And it’s got a crane in there too!

Workers

Stockholm is truly a beautiful city. The funny thing is that I never really saw the beauty of it until I actually moved there myself in my own search of fortune, even though I’ve visited the city countless times before. It’s a goldmine in more than one sense, with its charming old-fashioned architecture opening up a lot of different photographic opportunities. City photography is always a thrill.

This one has purposefully been given a hefty increase in contrast in order to give it a certain feel. It might be a little too much though, seeing how my monitor is very old with a calibration that’s way off the chart. It’s taken at a large construction site in central Stockholm.

“It should be in black and white” I hear you say? I had a rough time deciding about that myself but I settled on the more artsy look this time.

The old shipyard

22 06 2009

Right next to where I live there is a shipyard where you can find all kinds of interesting motives. Perfect for a visist with a camera on a sunny Sunday evening.

The place was put out of business less than a year ago due to financial problems and bad management. It’s a pretty sad story. A lot of the locals feel that the shipyard resembled something very important in Ålands long history of shipping. Now it’s all just standing there and nobody really knows what’s gonna happen to it.

Most machines have been removed from the site but some of them still remain, like this old red crane.

Tracks

22 05 2009

Weather was nice today and I decided to take the bus into town to take some photos. I eventually wound up at the trainstation and began walking alongside some old railroad tracks,  snapping away  along the way. Here’s part of the result from todays little adventure.

Stolen

I will post all kinds of images on the blog just to spice things up a little. Black & white, architecture, abstract, you name it. Here’s one for the B&W category, taken in an old abandoned house somewhere in Sweden.
